Youths That Inspire: Jazsmine

Meet Jazsmine.
I stumbled across this young queen's Instagram page some number of months ago and have been glued to it ever since. From the very vibe of her 'feed', you could tell this young lady was no where near the average. After following her some time now, I've admired her mindset so very much and I'm not exaggerating when I say this Philadelphia native has given me some hope for our generation today, proving that not every teenage girl out here is worried about the same materialistic, shallow things. Because of this, I figured there was no one better to have for my first segment of Youths That Inspire. I was able to 'interview' her for this, via text. Here's what was said:
Where are you originally from? I am from Philly, the Logan area.
Seriously? Me too, exact same area.
From the motivational speaking I've heard from you, you can definitely tell your mindset is no where near those of this generation, which is probably a good thing. How old are you, if you don't mind my asking? I know you should never ask a lady these sorts things lol
Wow that's great lol. I turn 16 in November so, I just say I'm 16.
Wow, you don't portray yourself to be so young, How'd you gain such a viewpoint on life and the things you see around you?
I've never had an "easy life " as some people would call it. I've always seen violence and death and just agony from humans, at an early age I knew that something was wrong with this world and since I couldn't find that positive push I needed, I did so many bad things and just acted out. When I became 12, I took it upon myself to find out who I am and what I wanted to be... I didn't wanna be 18 and not having goals you know? So it took me 3 years to learn to love who I am and I'm proud of myself. I figure if you can't find positivity, be the positivity and that's what I did. As far as my mind set, I believe I was born strong willed but I use it differently than my family, they don't fight for black rights or have my same ideals... So it's hard sometimes but I know who I am.
Being as though you recognized these things and vowed to make a change at such a young age, it's all the more awe inspiring, truly.
I'm sure that you know, but you are definitely admired by so many, young and old I'm sure. How does it feel to be able to inspire others the way you do? & Are there other influences? maybe a singer or a specific icon
Well yes, the youngest person I've had come to me for help or advice was 12 and the oldest 26. I feel like some people see me as a safe haven to share emotional and intellectual conversations with and I love that, yes it's stressful but it's worth it. I hear horrifying stories from men and women about their lives and they see that I'm helping them when in reality they are the ones who inspire and help me. I love the feeling of knowing I saved a soul. Many people come to me about to commit suicide and to be the one who saves them... When they come to me months later and share how much better they are I tell them that it wasn't me it was them, I was just there to give them the push but they did all the work so be proud of yourself.
It makes me cry sometimes with the amount of impact I have on people. Sometimes it's too much power but I'm using it positively and that's important , people with voices should use that gift in a good way and not for destruction. You asked who inspired me, it's tupac, Lisa left eye Lopez, and Lauryn hill.
I'm sure that would impact you deeply, I'm also sure that those who come to appreciate the genuine spirit you posses.
This is insanely off topic, but your choice of fashion I find to be incredible as well! It reflects your personality so well. Back to topic though, beside encouraging others with your wise words, is there anything else that you enjoy doing or have a passion for?
Lol thank you so much ,
I paint, dance, rap and write plays for schools and music for people. I'm also very good at photography, but I'm mainly a poet. My poetry is my soul and it is what I truly feel so whatever I write comes from the heart and I turn my poems into songs.
I have a passion for acting, I love film I wish I could be in a spike lee or John singleton film I'd love that.
Rapping? Definitely could see me turning up a radio station in the car listening to a new single of yours lol also I'm sure you'll definitely make to the big screen one day! Poet as well? A girl after my own heart,
Where can those who are interested find your poetry?Yes I want it so bad, I want that like I need to breathe honestly!
People can view my poetry @Wattpad.com/Troy_Nicole
You do have to have a Facebook account but I promise it's worth it!
Lol I'm sure most people do, no worries.
Last question, if you could give one piece of your encouraging advice to the young ladies & gentlemen reading, what would it be?My advice would be the cliche "shoot for the stars". Meaning go above and beyond in anything that you do, be the best at it and grow as a person, not just physically but mentally. Don't Give up on your dreams even if it's your parents kicking them down, you keep building those blocks to your kingdom and it'll all pay off. When you fail, get back up and keep moving, when you feel like you won't ever get there, remember that nothing good comes easy and nothing easy is good. Work hard, keep your head up and be educated.
I'll try to remember that myself, beautiful words of encouragement. Thanks so much for allowing me this time to speak with you, keep being you, it's genuinely appreciated!
Oh no problem, I love to do this!

Honestly, speaking to this beautiful young soul is so refreshing, without even noticing, I myself got an uplifting! It's youths such as herself that keeps a smile on my face when I think of the term "Children are our future!". Youth such as myself, and those years younger can surely benefit from such people. Keep an eye on her, she surely will do big things in the future.
This isn't goodbye, this is see you later. Until next time! ♥
