Its been a while since I've done one of these, hasn't it?
As you all should know by know, I am always scoping out instagram pages and that is how I discovered one of the most beautiful organizations that I've seen in years: Black Girl Magik. The name is sort of self-explanatory, and I had the privilege of speaking with the South Carolina based founder, who is 1/4 of what seems to be an amazing team and is also a college senior majoring in African American Studies (yeah, she's poppin). Needless to say, there's not much positivity in our world today, especially for our youth. With that being the case, if you follow me on social media, you know that I'm all for spreading a positive message and uplifting others and things of this nature, so imagine the overwhelming joy I felt when coming across one of (if not the biggest) the biggest youth organizations in Philly! Who am I speaking of? None other than the amazing RoleMODELS!
I wonder if the years to come look at the current year and get nervous like, "Oh man, maybe I should wait another month." I don't know, just thinking, but anyways, it's the new year!
I found out that the state has threatened (yes, this is a threat), to close all Philadelphia Schools in 2016. It genuinely made me sick, they believe that this is suppose to help what? Who is this going to benefit?
